December Ministry of The Month:

The Ministry of the Month for January is Neon, a student group at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) committed to social justice for people & the planet and spirituality shaped by Jesus & joy. The group, formerly known as the Wesley Foundation and supported by the United Methodist Church, gathers weekly for a free meal, a powerful message from LGBTQ+ and BIPOC speakers, and moments together in community. Since its launch last year, Neon has grown to more than 40 students weekly and up to 150 at events.

Neon is inclusive – participants do not have to be a Methodist or a Christian to belong. Neon strives to be a community that’s colorful, bright, and new together — free from homophobia, transphobia, patriarchy, white supremacy, and toxic systems, and believing real spirituality and social justice is about love: loving yourself, others, and God.

We look forward to being joined in worship on Sunday, January 11th, by Jean Carlos Diaz, director of Neon / Wesley Foundation. Jean Carlos will bring to us his impassioned message and an invitation to join him in supporting this important ministry for and with young people at the University of Minnesota.

You are invited to support Neon in January with a monetary donation, either in the Ministry of the Month basket on Sunday mornings, or by noting “Neon” or “Ministry of the Month” on your check or online donation. We are looking to provide a minimum of $500 to Neon, enough to support weekly gatherings for an entire semester.
