History of Fare for All at CUMC
Fare for All began at CUMC in 1990 when the Missions Committee (Diane Lesyinski, Bob & Lynn Lage, Fran Sarvilla, Steve Mahle and Rhoda Mead) brainstormed to find the most effective mission project they could do at that time. Diane & Lynn spoke about "Fare Share" and with Fran got it started as a pick up point at CUMC. The name has since been changed to "Fare for All."
Diane Lesyinski remembers this great mission project as offering people a way to do service for the community and still get something back. Literally, lots of fresh vegtables and some meats for a low price. Some nutritional information and recipies are added to ther packages. Diane is quoted as saying, "it was good incentive for doing service."
This program was successful for many years and several of us still use this low priced boost for our grocery budget. Check it out: for 2-4 hours of volunteer service a month and $10-$17 paid in advance you get a monthly food packet valued at twice that amount if you picked it up at the grocery store.
